Participants are often encouraged to take time for reflection and integration following the ceremony, as the effects of the medicine can continue to be felt for some time afterward. Once the intention has been set, the rapeh is prepared and administered by the practitioner or shaman. Participants will take turns receiving the medicine, which is blown into the nostrils using a pipe or straw. The practitioner may also use other tools, such as smudging, feathers, or crystals, to help clear and balance the energy of the individual receiving the medicine. I recommend takingTriphala on an empty stomach to assist digestion. This should result in a slow and steady burn of fragrant smoke for your practice. Continue by shaking any loose parts off the black stub at the end of your smudge stick, then loosen the string below it a little. Most prefer to keep it simple and use the smudge stick directly in their smudging practice. Once you’ve tried the suggestions below, you’ll experience an immediate improvement in how long your smudge stick stays lit and how long it burns for. Remember, to get ready for ceremony you have to up to 24 hours before and after ceremony avoid eating salty foods, keep empty stomach at list 6 hours before the ceremony , drink water, juices well also.
An iboga ceremony typically lasts 24 hours, with the most intense part of the journey lasting 8 hours. Some people may not be able to fall asleep up to 48 hours after they have taken the medicine. Avoid alcohol or any psychoactive substances at least 2-3 days before your iboga ceremony, the longer the better. Although, not required, avoiding anything that will put stress on your liver and adrenals will only enhance your overall experience.
